flakes

Bring the outside in with epoxy flake flooring

If you’re an avid fan of home renovation shows like The Block, or have looked at an interior design blog or Pinterest board lately, you would have noticed the meteoric rise of natural flooring materials being used inside homes and businesses. Textures like stone, marble, concrete, and brick are being utilised more and more to bring a sense of the outside in, and to elevate a sense of earthy calm into a space. We love this trend – and think it looks great when done right. But not all spaces (and budgets) are made equal. That’s where epoxy flake flooring could be the solution for you. It’s the perfect way to class up concrete, without breaking the budget. But you might be asking, ‘what on earth is flake flooring’? Well quite simply, it’s epoxy flooring laid on top of concrete, with decorative vinyl flakes added to create a textured look. This method is gaining popularity as a stylish, durable and statement-making floor covering. How the flakes are broadcast (or dispersed) can also drastically change the appearance of the flooring. With a range of epoxy colours and flake sizes, you can emulate the designer looks of any surface, from a terrazzo floor to a polished stone look and even certain marbles.   Where are the best locations for flake flooring? With all the flake and colour combinations available, the potential applications for flake flooring are virtually endless. Here are some of the kinds of spaces that we’ve helped our customers transform: Wet areas Flake flooring is a great solution for those wanting a cost-effective polished stone look in the bathroom, kitchen or laundry. With non-slip protective coatings available, it’s a safe and stylish option for these wet areas. Living areas With amazing looks replicating stone and marble, flake flooring is on the rise as a way to bring living areas to life. No wonder, either – being stain and scuff resistant makes it an easy choice for the room that gets the most wear and tear in a home! Retail & business Flake flooring also looks fantastic in retail spaces where you need a hard-wearing, easy-to-clean, anti-slip floor that will give your customers a sense of the outside being brought inside. This treatment is popular among restaurants, cafés, and retail shops. Another bonus is that it can be colour-matched to suit any theme. Schools High foot traffic areas like school common areas, classrooms, and gymnasiums are ideal locations for flake flooring. Its ability to withstand constant use, coupled with being easy to clean and the option to add non-slip protection make it perfect for the school environment. Garages and warehouses An epoxy garage floor or warehouse floor with flakes will make any room feel more like a showroom! Being chip, spill and stain resistant also makes it an ideal solution for these prone areas. Plus, its flaked texture masks dirt and dust that much better than plain concrete. Outside the home or office While it’s popular for interior spaces, epoxy flake flooring can also transform outside the home or workplace too. Instead of forking out for expensive pavers that can crack, flake flooring is commonly used to liven up patios, driveways, alfresco areas and walkways.   How is it installed? Installing an epoxy flake floor with a specialist like Kleenit can radically transform the look of a room or exterior. All the while, it will create a scratch-resistant, easy-to-clean surface that is chemical and stain resistant, and will last for many years to come. Installing the flooring involves the application of epoxy paints, and broadcasting vinyl chips to create a decorative finish. 1. Preparation It’s vital that the concrete is prepared correctly. This is to ensure proper penetration and bonding of the epoxy paints. There are no shortcuts here – the longevity and quality of the finished floor would be compromised otherwise. 2. Primer/sealer coat Once the concrete is prepared, an epoxy primer and sealer is applied to ensure an effective bond with the surface. 3. Epoxy Coat A coat of two-pack tinted epoxy paint is then applied on top of the primer coat. The two products bond together. 4. Flake broadcasting Coloured flakes are broadcast (or distributed) onto the epoxy layer to create the decorative flake effect. 5. Polyurethane clear top coat Finally, two coats of a clear, two-pack polyurethane paint are applied to give a high gloss, hard wearing, and scratch-resistant finish.   How do I look after flake flooring? While epoxy flake flooring is heavy duty and incredibly durable, like all floors, nothing can stay perfect forever. However, looking after it will go a long way to increasing its lifespan. When treated with care, you can expect a flake floor to last you a good 20 or more years. Want to know what steps to take to care for your flake flooring? Well, since it’s made with practically the same materials and finish as epoxy flooring, you can find a post we’ve previously made on the topic here.   How much does it costs? Unfortunately, there’s no easy answer to how much an epoxy flake floor costs. The final price of the project will depend on factors such as the surface area, the condition of the concrete, the type of flake finish you want, and whether anti-slip protection is applied. Rest assured though that it is one of the most cost-effective ways for you to treat your floor.   Contact a Kleenit advisor to get a free quote for your epoxy flake flooring.

home gym epoxy flooring

Transform your garage into a gym with epoxy flooring

During COVID, working out at home became a necessity. We did yoga in the loungeroom, jumped rope in the backyard, and smashed Ninja workouts on YouTube. We got imaginative because we didn’t have a choice.  Now, as we’re back to normal (relatively), we can all return to group classes and public gyms. But, despite being able to reactivate our memberships, many people are choosing to continue to exercise at home. And why not? There are many benefits, including convenience, time, and privacy.  Benefits of working out at home:  Convenience: You roll out of bed and hit the weights without having to muster up the energy to get in your car and drive.  Financial: Gym memberships are expensive. Working out at home saves you thousands of dollars every year.  Time: Time is a commodity. Quick lunch workout? You’ll be done in 30. We all could use more time, and exercising in your own space will save you a lot.  Privacy: Some people love the camaraderie of working out with others, but others prefer privacy.     As many benefits there are to work outing at home, there are also downfalls, and space is one of them. If you want to lift weights, where do you store them? What about your exercise bike? Will it annoy the family in the lounge room? And forget about a bench press! You need a designated space to work out.  Our clients are installing garage gyms with the help of epoxy flooring. Epoxy will convert any garage into a full-fledged gym that even your mates will want to train in.  Here, we go through the benefits of epoxy floors and give you some installation tips.    Benefits of epoxy flooring in garage gyms    Epoxy floors will motivate you to workout  Some like the grunginess of basement boxing and industrial garages – perhaps because they emulate Fight Club (we love that movie!). But we find most people are more motivated by clean environments. Epoxy flooring will instantly lift the look of your garage by creating a smooth, shiny finish, which looks way more appealing than grotty oil-stained cement. You can even colourise epoxy to complement your equipment and add line marking to zone exercise areas.  Epoxy floors are durable and resilient against impact  If you’re planning on decking out your garage gym with heavy equipment, you’ll need a epoxy concrete floor that will stand up to serious impact. Unfortunately, the concrete floor will likely crack and chip with jerking movement, which will be costly to repair and won’t bode well for your safety (nobody wants to risk doing aerobics on a chipped floor). Epoxy floors protect concrete by coating it with epoxy resin, which hardens and seals. It’s also oil and chemical resistant, so if you can park your car in your garage, you won’t need to worry about oil stains!  Epoxy is easy to clean and maintain  Epoxy flooring is a popular gym option because it’s easy to clean and maintain. Epoxy is non-porous, unlike concrete, which doesn’t absorb spills. So when you do spill your favourite workout drink, you can just wipe it up! How do you thoroughly clean? A quick vacuum and mop will make your gym sparkling again. And the cleaner your gym, the more inspired you will be to work out. We give you more tips for maintaining epoxy floor here.    How do you install epoxy flooring? 1. Prepare concrete  The success of your epoxy flooring has a lot to do with how well you prepare. First, you need to clean and degrease the concrete and chip away any protruding bits to ensure the epoxy will stick to the concrete and leave a smooth finish.  Scrape protruding cement: Scrape hard cement with a shovel and scrub with a hard brush to smooth the floor.  Pressure clean: You will need to concrete clean the floor with a pressure hose or clean it with a power scrubber. Acid wash: Once you have cleaned the floor, we recommend scrubbing with hydraulic acid. Rinse with hose. Don’t forget your safety gear! 2. Apply primer  Tape up the edges of the floor to protect the wall. Before you get into the epoxy, you must ensure it bonds with the concrete. This is where primer comes in. Follow the instructions on your primer.  3. Roll on epoxy paint  Next, mix the epoxy depending on the instructions. You can then apply the epoxy with a paint roller. Again, refer to the instructions for your epoxy.  4. Apply flakes if desired  If you’re after flake flooring, you can sprinkle flakes on the surface as you paint the epoxy on the cement. We recommend sprinkling the flakes once you have painted 1m2 of the floor.  5. Non-slip flooring  If you want non-slip flooring, which may be a good idea if you will be jumping around in your gym, now is the time. Apply the second coat like you did the first.  DIY epoxy flooring can be labour-intensive and take a few days to complete. We recommend hiring a professional to ensure your epoxy is applied correctly and will last as long as possible.    Chat with Kleenit about epoxy for your gym. Get in touch.

Warehouse floor coating: How to maintain your epoxy floor

Have you invested in epoxy floor coating? Good move. Epoxy is the ultimate protection. It shields against liquid spills and stays strong under heavy weights – precisely what you want on a busy industrial floor. And if you've opted for non-slip flooring, you're also prioritising safety, which we can certainly get behind! We know maintenance can be a headache. Some people take the 'ignorance is bliss' approach and avoid action unless confronted with a problem. Unfortunately, ignorance only gets you so far. Sooner or later, a crisis will occur and will probably be costly. It pays (literally) to keep your warehouse in good knick.  As durable as epoxy flooring is – and it's heavy-duty – like most things in the warehouse, it requires maintenance. If you invest in proper maintenance, it will last up to 20 or more years, so you won't have to find money in the budget to re-do it later.  Here are some tips for caring for your epoxy floors and flake flooring.   How to care for epoxy flooring    Keep floors grit, sand and dirt free Think because epoxy floors are easy to maintain you can get a little lax with cleaning? Warehouse floor coating is strong, but it’s not magical! Dirt can scratch over time, which can worsen with machinery moving it around. We recommend spot cleaning by sweeping or vacuuming dirt off the floor as soon as it spills or keeping up a schedule to avoid build-up.  Protect warehouse floor coating with mats Epoxy floor paint is designed to withstand the weight of heavy-duty equipment, such as as forklifts, high-density shelving and conveyors. But cracks, scuffs and pits do happen, especially in action-packed industrial settings. Once cracked, epoxy concrete floors can begin to flake, and this may result in it needing to be replaced. Protect your warehouse floor coating with rubber mats or pads where heavy equipment is used and stored.  Clean chemical spills immediately  Yes, epoxy flooring is chemical-resistant, but if you leave spills for too long, they can break down the gloss. Chemicals can include anything from all-purpose cleaners and paint to battery acid. When a spill occurs, soak up the chemical with a cloth or paper towel and then a wet cloth to wipe the floor. You may also need to neutralise the chemical with an acid or alkali-neutralising powder. Once the powder is absorbed, sweep or vacuum it up then mop the area.  Schedule regular and deep cleans  Remember when we mentioned maintenance? Cleaning is a big part of it. It's best if you clean epoxy concrete floors regularly. The frequency will depend on your warehouse. At least once a week is recommended. If you work as a mechanic, you may need to clean daily to ensure all oil, grease and chemicals aren't left on the floor. We recommend scheduling deep cleans at least once every three months, where you move machinery, shelving and tools to clean under them. High pressure cleaning works well for deep cleaning epoxy flooring.     How to clean warehouse floor coating   Clear debris  As we mentioned earlier, all debris must be cleared off the floor, especially before washing it, to avoid scratching. You can use a broom to sweep up dirt or a vacuum with a soft brush attachment to prevent damage.    Wash with ammonia  You must avoid harsh chemicals, citrus and vinegar when cleaning. These liquids will break down the polish of the epoxy floor painting. Instead, we recommend mixing ammonia with hot water (refer to instructions) and mopping with a flat mop to avoid unsightly streaks.  Scrub tough stains   Have you noticed tough stains? You can use a soft deck brush to scrub these out. Avoid scourers or hard bristles, as these will scratch the epoxy. If stains don't lift with water and ammonia, you can try a degreaser for grease marks or a concentrated cleaner (ensure it's okay for epoxy).  Rinse and dry the floor  Now's time to wash the cleaning solution off the epoxy flooring or flake flooring. You can hose the floor down or mop the solution with hot water. We recommend drying the floor with a towel.    Epoxy flooring and epoxy flake floor coating stand up to harsh conditions, but maintenance will help to minimise damage and make it last for years.    Is it time to give your warehouse floor coating a deep clean? Essential spring cleaning tips to make your house dazzle

With the sun starting to shine again and temperatures still mild, spring is the best time of year to get your house in order. If you’re noticing the cobwebs building up, or feel like you’re drowning in clutter, maybe it’s time to get stuck into a good old spring clean. Nothing is more satisfying than doing some thorough spring cleaning, then standing back and seeing the end result. It can truly make your home so much more liveable and loveable, plus it’s an activity that can get the whole family involved. While at first, it can seem like a time-consuming or labour-intensive undertaking, with the right tips and tricks, you’ll be able to see your home sparkle in no time. Whether you want to tackle the whole house from top-to-bottom or take on one part of the home that’s been niggling at you, these tips will help you get it done (with a little bit of elbow grease on your part, of course).   Make a checklist and prioritise It can feel overwhelming to know where to start, especially when there are so many jobs to be done. So start by breaking it up room by room, also dividing by inside and outside. Create a spring cleaning checklist, with roles assigned for each room, area, or task. Divide and conquer! You’ll also want to prioritise your tasks so you can stay motivated. You might not finish all of it in one go or in the time you’d hoped – and that’s ok! Rome wasn’t built in a day – and neither was a perfectly clean and organised home.   Declutter and tidy Rule number one – cleaning follows tidying. Because it’s hard (and sometimes impossible!) to clean an untidy or cluttered space when there’s excess furniture, trinkets, and objects in the way, accumulating dust and stopping you from seeing or reaching what needs to be cleaned. It can be liberating to let go of excess clutter, but you don’t need to go full-on Marie Kondo. Start with something simple like a wardrobe cleanout, or going through boxes of things you’ve accumulated. You could also benefit from throwing out the crusty and expired bathroom products, or identifying some excess furniture and pieces you’ve got in storage.  Sometimes, a good old-fashioned garage sale is what you need to bring the decluttering to a head. It can be a relieving way of letting go of large amounts of ‘stuff’ you no longer need but may have held onto. Plus, when you see it all together it can really put things into perspective! There are also bound to be many things you don’t want to or can’t let go of – that’s a given. The best way to tackle this is to look at storage solutions. No matter the room or space, if you’re aimlessly piling things on top of one another without a home for them, then there’s a better way. There are so many new and unique options out there to stack, store and save room all over the house. You’ll thank yourself later for all the time you save finding things easily. In some cases, the sheer amount of clutter we accumulate can become completely overwhelming or even dangerous. If it feels this way, why not talk to Kleenit about our hoarding cleaning services? We can help you ‘move on’ and create a space that’s liveable once more.   Tackle the simple cleaning tasks Once you’ve got a space that’s tidy and clutter-free, it’s time to get cleaning. These are some of the simple tasks that you can tackle regardless of space. Dusting and surface cleaning. Many people forget to dust on a regular basis, and we don’t blame you. But accumulating dust can have a negative effect on your health, so it’s vital to stay on top of it. Don’t forget the skirting boards and light fittings! Deep clean your appliances. Maybe your oven has got some lasagna permanently baked into it. Perhaps the inside of your dishwasher has seen better (and less smelly) days. Or there’s a certain ‘tang’ every time you open the fridge door. Take all everything out, and get cleaning right at the source. Spot the hidden spots. It can be easy to overlook the insides of cupboards and cabinets, or under the furniture. Out of sight, out of mind right? Sometimes you’ll need to look beyond the surface or move things around to find the areas in most need of a clean. Scrub-a-dub-dub. Tiles and wet areas in the bathroom, kitchen, and laundry can hide a sea of dirt and grime in plain sight. So get an old toothbrush or scrubbing brush out and get to it! Shower curtains also often go overlooked and are can be in desperate need of a wash. Don’t just vacuum – mop. This one speaks for itself. Floorboards or tiles might seem ‘clean’ to the naked eye, but can be hiding stains and smells – so don’t forget to get the mop and bucket out.   Enlist professionals for the ‘too-big’ jobs Some jobs can feel too great to tackle alone, especially when it comes to exterior house cleaning. Maybe the garage or driveway have a few stubborn oil stains that won’t come off, or it’s too hard to reach certain areas to get the gunk or cobwebs off. Perhaps bore water stains have turned your home look an unsightly shade of orange or the gutters are chock-a-block. If you find yourself stuck in one of these situations, that’s where you should call the professionals in. At Kleenit, we are specialists in pressure washing and exterior house cleaning. Walls, roofs, gutters, driveways – the Kleenit crew will clean the lot for you with our house washing service. We can also help you with patio cleaning, paver cleaning and deck washing, so regardless of the task, consider it taken care of. Enlisting us to tackle these tricky chores are one of the most efficient ways to spruce up the outside of your home to look shinier and more beautiful than ever. There also might be other big tasks like the pool needing a serious clean, large tree branches that need lopping, or even a garden revamp on the cards. Whatever it is, if you feel in over your head – we recommend calling in the experts. We’ve seen people time and time again make silly mistakes when trying to tackle a job that’s beyond them. Trust us – it’s not worth the hassle if you get it wrong! We hope these tips will help you on your spring cleaning journey. Remember, every little bit adds up! High pressure cleaning on exterior house

Why Every Property Owner Should Invest in High-Pressure Cleaning

Have you driven into your driveway and noticed multiple oil stains? Or had lunch on the patio and thought, 'the paving is looking a little rough?!' The exterior of your property is open to the elements. Moss grows between pavers. Dirt builds up on bricks, and decks become discoloured from water. It doesn't take long for your building to look unkempt. So now you're searching for ways to bring your property back to its former glory. Maybe you're thinking of doing a DIY cleaning job? Or wondering about professional pressure cleaning? If you want to maintain the exterior of your building, you've come to the right place. We'll walk you through high-pressure cleaning basics and give you the key benefits so you can make an informed decision.   What is high-pressure cleaning? High-pressure cleaning removes residues from exterior surfaces such as bricks, tiles, concrete, decks and walls with a high-pressure water stream. The professional high-pressure machine has a heated water tank and a focused jet, with an output pressure of 5000psi – 50 times stronger than a standard garden hose. The combination of commercial-grade detergent and the hose pressure dislodges hard-to-move dirt and breaks down stubborn grease. As a result, high-pressure cleaning keeps building exteriors in pristine condition.    What can high-pressure cleaning remove? It may seem like an investment, but exterior house washing and commercial high-pressure cleaning will save you money in the long run. How? Well, think about it. If you leave residue to build up and never remove it, your property will age faster, materials will break down, and you will need to replace them down the track. Renovations are more costly than maintenance, so booking services like deck maintenance will help you save money in the long term.  Minimises hazards and health concerns  Dilapidated buildings can house a host of hazards, including mould, dust and pollen. Mould is a particular issue, and its build-up can quickly become toxic, making your property a health hazard. If you have mould growing on the exterior of your building, it's best to get a professional to remove it. Professional moss removal cleaners use protective equipment to avoid breathing in dangerous spores.    Why not do a DIY high-pressure cleaning job? We wouldn't blame you for being tempted to do a DIY job – you can buy house high-pressure cleaning products at the hardware store, after all! But a DIY job is risky because retail cleaning products can damage porous surfaces and discolour painted walls. It's also easy to spray the dirt elsewhere, which is not ideal. Trained commercial cleaners know how to adjust cleaning methods for different surfaces, e.g. when doing oil stain removal from driveways they learn to soak the oil in hot water and alkaline detergent to avoid damage. Professional high-pressure cleaning is also stronger than store-bought hoses, and cleaners use biodegradable cleaning products that are gentle on your property. As a result, you end up with a quality clean without damage.    High-pressure cleaning services  Kleenit provides extensive high-pressure cleaning services for residential and commercial properties in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra and beyond.  Services: Paver cleaning  Driveway Oil Stain Removal  Deck Maintenance  Patio Cleaning  Exterior House Cleaning  Building Washing  Driveway Cleaning  Concrete Cleaning  Moss Removal    Keen to high-pressure clean your property? Line Marking on school ground

The Importance of Playground Line Marking in Schools

Remember the good ol’ days when you would hop, skip and jump to the finish line at recess? Or rushed out of the classroom to battle your friends at four square at lunch? Of course, you wouldn’t have thought about it then, but those games were made possible because of playground line marking. Now you’re working in a school or local government, line marking is on your radar. Perhaps the basketball court lines are fading, and students are fighting over whether the ball was out of bounds or new concrete is ready for its line marking debut. Whatever your interest, we’re glad you’re researching it because line marking is important for every school.     What is playground line marking? First, what exactly is playground line marking or schoolyard stencilling? Similarly to car park line marking or warehouse line marking, playground line marking is the process of painting stencils, markings or symbols on concrete, bitumen or brick to create boundaries in games and sporting activities. Line marking can be as simple as clean, white lines or feature vibrant colours and shapes to engage the little ones.  Popular playground line marking include Playground boundaries  Basketball Netball  Foursquare or handball Hopscotch  Snakes & Ladders Mazes  Word games   5 reasons playground line marking is important 1. Ignites learning experiences  Play is essential to child development because it facilitates learning. It aids in developing problem-solving skills, cognitive processing and memory, so creating as many opportunities for children to play is essential, especially at school. If spaces aren’t set up for play, e.g. concrete without schoolyard line paintings, students won’t play that game of hopscotch or imaginative game that will benefit their learning. 2. Encourages physical exercise  We’ve all heard the reports about the obesity rates rising in children, and inactivity is said to be one of the key factors. Technology has meant children spend more time indoors than ever before, with their eyes fixed on the screen, remaining sedentary. However, sports games like basketball, netball, tennis and handball, games made possible because of playground line markings, get kids outside and moving and keep them fit and healthy.    3. Improve outdoor facilities  Are you invested in your school’s reputation? Tired old bitumen with cracked line markings from days gone by doesn’t give the greatest impression! You may not have the budget to do much about the greying bitumen, but a fresh coat of line marking is doable. Schoolyard stencilling will lift the look of your school and show that maintaining facilities is a priority. 4. Activate forgotten spaces  If you’re managing a property, you want space to be utilised. You also need to keep crowd control in mind, with students evenly distributed in the playground. If you’ve got a patch of bitumen in the corner of the school that students avoid, you can create a space for sports games to encourage students to utilise it. 5. Keep children safe  Safety is, of course, the highest priority in schoolyards. With little kids, especially, keeping them in eyesight is easier when you have clearly defined boundaries where they need to remain. Line markings define areas in the playground or create boundaries for separation between grades.   How to choose quality line markers How do you choose a line marking or schoolyard stencilling company? Line marking specialists will adequately plan and design your playground line marking, so it’s 100% accurate. They will also use special long-lasting line marking paint so all that foot traffic won’t make a dent in the sparkling white lines!  At Kleenit, our line markers use airless spraying technology, which applies the paint more consistently and accurately. Our schoolyard stencilling is long-lasting and will stay bright for years to come.  Is it time to invest in playground line marking services? Get a free quote today.

Anti-graffiti coating: Protecting your property against graffiti

Business owners and property managers can agree that dealing with graffiti is frustrating when it comes to building maintenance. And we’re not talking about cool street art on our alleyways; we’re talking about the ugly tags that cover buildings everywhere. Graffiti may not seem like a huge deal, but it can cause many problems. These are some of the reasons why graffiti should be dealt with quickly:  Certain tags can be offensive to the community   Graffiti can obscure branding and signage  Graffiti affects your building’s appeal Spray paints can damage exterior surfaces Tags attract copycats or “one-upping.” As pressure cleaning specialists and experts in graffiti removal, we’ve removed our fair share of ugly paint, and unfortunately, it’s not always as simple as water and soap or store-bought graffiti cleaner. The process requires a specially formulated stripping gell or spraypaint remover and high-pressure cleaning equipment to blast off the paint.  We now recommend properties invest in anti-graffiti coating. Anti-graffiti coating is like a special enamel that seals the paint on your building that repels liquids from the surface of your building (much like water runs off a leaf). It makes graffiti easy to clean and prevents long-term damage.   Benefits of anti-graffiti coating    Take a proactive approach to damage  We’re sure you have enough to do without cleaning your building every day. So how do you deal with graffiti, especially when you try to DIY graffiti removal yourself and overnight there’s a fresh batch ready and waiting for you? Anti-graffiti coating is a proactive approach to vandalism. By investing in protection, you can avoid having to get paint professionally removed repeatedly. It’s an easy fix because the pain will wash right off.  Reduce the cost of cleaning  If you’ve had to pay for graffiti removal a few times now, you’ll know the costs quickly add up. Anti-graffiti coating makes spray paint easy to remove, so you won’t have to invest in professional removal, reducing building maintenance costs. And you immediately remove graffiti, and vandalists will quickly get the picture that there’s no point messing with your building!  Maintain the look and brand of your building  We all judge buildings by their appearance, whether you’re conscious of it or not, and one of the unfortunate consequences of graffiti is its damage to your reputation. Graffiti makes your property look unkempt and neglected, which gives off a wrong impression. Not to mention ruin the branding you’ve invested in – we’ve all tried to decipher signs covered in spray paint! You can quickly remove spray paint with anti-graffiti coating to keep your property looking professional.  Deter other graffiti artists  Graffiti attracts more graffiti. The culture of graffiti artists is one of ownership, status and hierarchy. Taggers like to one-up each other by tagging on top of each other’s work. What does this mean for you? One tag on your building will attract more tags your building. The quicker you clean up the graffiti, the less chance you will attract more damage. Anti-graffiti coating means quick removal.  Avoids staining and long-term damage  Did you know spray paint can strip the colour of your building and cause long term damage? Certain paints can have a corrosive effect on surfaces. They can also leave stains or shadows even once removed. We’re now coming to terms with precisely what this means.  95% of adults are now fully vaccinated, so the Government is lifting restrictions and emergency measures such as lockdowns and international travel. Fire Damage Cleaning: How to Respond After a Fire

Experiencing a fire is scary, no matter the size and severity. It's not only a threat to your safety during the fire, but well after. Structural damage, lingering smoke, soot, and mould are all a concern. Aside from the health considerations, even a small fire can severely damage your property. Smoke and soot can quickly stain surfaces and become difficult to remove. The water from fighting the blaze can cause damage too. The aftermath of a fire is overwhelming and you may be wondering what to tackle first. As fire restoration cleaning experts, we have seen our fair share of fires. We go through the fire damage you can expect and tips on what to do to recover your property. What fire damage can you expect? Structural damage Depending on the severity of the fire, the structure of your property may be compromised, and you could encounter dangerous debris. Heat can warp walls, crack foundations and shatter glass. In addition, fire can damage supportive beams and cave in ceilings. It’s also important to note that sometimes structural damage cannot be easily be detected. Materials will react differently to heat and flames. It’s always best to tread with caution. Smoke and soot damage When it comes to fire damage, smoke and soot are a concern. Smoke quickly permeates walls, ceilings and furniture. Soot, the powdery substance from burning embers, settles on surfaces. Both smoke and soot stain and discolour walls, ceilings and appliances, causing corrosion if left for a considerable time. Smoke can smell pretty bad too, and unfortunately, deep cleaning is required to eradicate it. Smoke and soot are also health concerns. Smoke causes burning eyes and a runny nose, and prolonged exposure can even cause fatal diseases. Water damage Putting out a fire requires water, and unfortunately, this can damage your property. Porous materials like wooden floors soak up water and quickly swell. Carpets are easily ruined. Water can also become trapped in ceilings, which can result in collapse. The longer water is left the worse damage. After you extinguish the fire, flood restoration is often needed to remove  water, dry the property and conduct mould removal. Fire damage cleaning tips 1. Assess the safety of your home Your safety is the priority, so the first thing to do is assess the danger. The Department of Fire and Services recommends contacting a building inspector to ensure your home is structurally safe before you go inside. If you have insurance, your provider may call one for you. It’s also important to turn off electricity, gas and water. Contact utility providers, inform them of the fire and get their professional attention on whether these elements are still functional. 2. Prepare for insurance Are you insured? If so, call your provider and inform them of the damage. Your fire damage services and/or flood restoration services may be covered. They may also have a preferred provider – it may be us! Our team will investigate the extent of the damage and provide a quote for fire damage cleaning and smoke damage cleaning immediately. We will work with your insurance company to restore your property and contents. 3. Ventilate and save While you wait for professional fire damage cleaning and other professionals to attend to the damage, open windows and doors to ventilate the area so the remaining smoke can escape, which will reduce odour. Remove any electronic devices near the fire site, as smoke and soot may contaminate them and cause further damage. You may also choose to cover other surfaces, furniture and appliances to protect them before the cleanup. 4. Prepare for fire restoration cleaning Smoke, soot and water will continue to damage your property well after the fire – the longer you leave it, the worse it will get. The most important thing to do is to act quickly. We recommend calling a fire restoration company immediately if the fire was considerable. DIY cleaning can often cause more damage.
